The history
of the Macedonian Scientific Association of Endocrinologists and Diabetologists
begins on May 26th 1999, when a unanimous decision was made to form the
so-called Diabetes Association of Macedonia (DAM). The association began
working by that name, officially from July 19th 1999. In the subsequent years,
the association has successfully juggled between organizing evens and enlarging
the members network, by making a lot of activities accessible to all interested
physicians.
Over the
years, the need for altering the name of the association was observed, due to
the limiting previous name of the association (Diabetes Association of
Macedonia) that refers only to diabetes, which in turn is only a nuance in the
vast range of endocrine diseases. On April 11th 2011, a meeting of the
association’ members was held, on which a concordant decision was voted – to
change the name of the association into its current name – Macedonian
Scientific Association of Endocrinologists and diabetologists; in addition a
decision to align the Statute with the new legal provisions was made. At the
same meeting a resolution for derogation and accession of the founders was
formulated, by which the founders of the Macedonian Scientific Association of
Endocrinologists and diabetologists are Dr. Milcho Bogoyev, Dr. Brankica
Krstevka, Dr. Tatjana Milenkovich, Dr Chedomir Dimitrovski, and Dr. Sasha
Jovanovska Mishevska.
The vision
of the association is rather simple and always striving for continuous
professional progress and development, as well as representing the interests of
its members. For this purpose expert meetings and events are continuously
organized and conducted, that undoubtedly contributes to the improvement of the
clinical practice and at the same time facilitates following the latest trends
in the endocrinology and diabetes worldwide, for the association’s members. The
current presidency is committed to improvement in the areas of prevention,
diagnosis and treatment of endocrine diseases and diabetes in the clinical
practice, by constantly organizing events with international participation of
experts in the field of endocrinology and diabetes. The Association welcomes
any attempt or idea for progress in the clinical practice as well as in the
academic sphere. Any idea will be discussed in detail and, if feasible will be
supported. The purpose of the Scientific Association of Endocrinologists and
Diabetologists of Macedonia is to be incentive to its members for their
constant progress along with creating a solid base for the generations of
physicians to come.
